Set inside a traditionally built Himachali home, this one-of-a-kind stay features a dreamy attic turned into a private library – where the books are many and the distractions few.
With an open kitchen, an outdoor dining space, and a porch to linger on, it’s a space made for solo travellers, couples, remote work warriors, and long-stay wanderers alike.
Come for a quiet escape, stay for the stillness.

The Attic Library is built around the idea of living with and within a library – with books literally forming the roof over your head. Carefully designed and brought to life by local hands, the home stays true to its roots while offering all the comforts needed for an inspiring stay.
Settle in with a book from the in-house library – curated for long, quiet days.
Sink into the bay window nook for conversations or a midday nap.
Brew a warm cup, lounge on the balcony, and watch the mountains shift moods.
Whip up something simple in the open-air kitchen – cooking with a view just hits different.
Journal, sketch, or simply daydream in your cozy studio workspace.
Tucked away in a quiet corner of Upper Bir, The Attic Library is surrounded by local farms and homes – offering a peaceful pause just a short stroll from the buzz. The landing site, cafés, and market are all about 1 km away.
You can walk up from the main colony in under 10 minutes or arrive directly by car.
An empty plot nearby provides easy parking.

until then, keep reading - pause at libraries - and stay tuned for updates 🌸
our very loved attic is in reality a space that celebrates rawness of things - a huge wall filled with books of all kinds, an enormous handmade carpet - and a window, that allows the play of light on imperfect wooden floors, and for you to observe and be with it - if you too choose to stay still and play;
four years in bir and my constant belief is that bir is what you see it to be in monsoons - landing site absolutely empty, washed up (and gorgeous) landscape, glorious sunsets after build up for a thunderstorm the entire day, golden light like it`s nobody`s business and if that`s not enough - then a beautiful rainbow (or two) when you least expect them 🌄

being a superhost is as much about the guests and friends as much it`s about us running this space - more as a place of our own, than just a mere business.
it`s been almost 2 years hosting. being a superhost is no doubt a journey of errors and learnings in the making - but that journey is also about the superguests that travel and stayed with us with an open mind (and an even bigger heart) - sharing their experiences and helping us grow - unknowingly supporting us in building what we once dreamt of.
today seemed like a good day to revisit some of these reviews and enter our own nostalgia - from our first guest two years ago, and those - who are staying with us as i type this. ☀️
the very colourful (and cheerful) bir holi mela;
a living library, and a curated, handpicked collection of books is what is the central story for both our cottages.
what we mean by a living library - is a collection of books, that is read like one`s own, shuffled, and moved around between people, spaces, and houses;
every time you visit, you`ll find some books that you may be picked up the last time, and yet, some new ones too - that were added either by us, or some of our guests - making this library, and our little space their own 🙂
